We made silly pumpkin faces, candy corn necklaces, and sewed Frankenstein and black cat hand puppets while we waited on dinner to cook.
We "grazed" on some delicious snacks.... I think I was guilty of shoveling the artichoke jalapeno dip in my mouth!!!
After we feasted on mac'n'cheese, Ritz cracker chicken, and roasted veggies...(ummm..drool) we settled down and made Oreo spiders for dessert. Look at the little listening ears while I explain the "spiders".
My hubby made some silly memories also...
What a treasure.... a picture with everyone looking at the camera!!!! SIL's, MIL, and the little lovies.
I thought I would post some of the other memories we've made this month.
We had great intentions of going to the Pumpkin Patch to pick our pumpkins and have a cheery time. We went...smiles on our faces.... took a picture...and then headed to the area where they keep the little fuzzy animals....
See....we HAD smiles. Until ------ The Mr. picked up this fuzzy wuzzy floppy-eared bunny. It was so cute and sweet. I clicked a quick picture of him holding it and then tried to switch the camera for the bunny. Well, as I held the bunny....these little kids came over to see the bunnies also...and they started screaming at the top of their lungs....it spooked the floppy-eared bundle of cuteness and it suddenly turned into an evil sharp clawed maniac. It's claws dug into my hand and it shot back into it's little huddle with all the other floppy-ear rabid rabbits. I, of course, was ready to leave and in a pouty mood after this crisis. Yes, I am embarrassed of myself. Yes, we laughed on the way home at how dramatic I made our day ---the Pumpkin Patch Massacre :)We have the sweetest neighbor boys. We see them most evenings, take them treats, get them crafts, and they help us in the yard and make us belly laugh!!! They are so respectful and helpful. We spent an evening with them hanging cobwebs and watching their touchdown dances!!!
Another fun fall day was spent with my dad. He lives in the country on a few acres with a pond. The weather was gorgeous and we spent the entire day in the backyard telling old stories. I found some of my dad's old report cards and had a deep appreciate for the "comment" section. His Second grade teacher wrote "If Bobby would just turn his work in on time...." Oh, I know exactly who he was in class!!!! Almost all of the other comments stated how amazingly smart he was and what a great helper he was to other friends and to the teacher. Awww..... He let me take the report cards home and keep them. Such a treasure.
Since the weather has been perfect for patio time...we spent another fall evening with my MIL. We grilled steaks, peppers and apples, and cooked potatoes. Since food is such an important part of my memory making criteria.... my MIL always makes memorable nights. Her food is awesome!!! When her and my husband get together they tell they craziest stories. While we were visiting a few weeks ago she found some little notes that my husband wrote to her when he was little.....awww...his handwriting reminded me of the kiddos in my classroom. So sweet.
One night was spent celebrating our friends at their couples shower. When this group gets together we always have a great time. Thank goodness there's always an upcoming event...so we get to see each other often!!!
We've made so many memories the past several weeks and we have so much to look forward to over the next few months. With every season comes different "speed bumps" that we have to overcome. At times, I feel overwhelmed by the weight of these problems. One of the things I love so much about blogging is that I can share all the positives that life brings. So, when a speed bump does come down the road....I have the perfect place to self reflect and remember how blessed I am. So, Thank you blogger. You have helped with putting a smile on my face more times than you know. :)
