29+1

Remember when you used to watch Friends and think "I want to live just like that when I'm thirty" and "Dang, they are old!"  Well,  I'm hitting the 3-0 and reality is kicking in.  Nope,  I don't live in a swanky downtown loft....
I live in a neighborhood where everyone decorates for the holidays and kids play catch in the middle of the street.
I used to think about all the fancy restaurants and late night dinners with friends....
But I scour the Internet for recipes...and for the record, we eat dinner before 6:00 every night during the week!!!
I figured I would have 3 or 4 kids by now and head of the PTA....
I am a member of the PTA...but on the teacher side.   Instead,  I have two furbabies that I adore.  Couldn't be more happy swimming in all this cat hair! There are other times I think about all I wanted to accomplish by the time I turned 30.  And I think I have surpasses many of the items on my "dream list".
Travel, career, friendships, loving husband, family, growing a deeper relationship with my Lord, overall happiness.     With that being said...  thirty is still a little mentally unbelievable to me.  I've had lots of self-evaluating moments and learning lessons as well....but those just aren't as fun to reminisce on now are they?!
I have had some pretty amazing birthday celebrations in my twenties.  A few years ago my "boyfriend", soon to be fiance, threw me a surprise fiesta.
Complete with a pinata...an empty pinata.  Oops!  Forgot to fill it up with candy!
Another favorite was my last 20's celebration.  My sweetie picked some thoughtful gifts and we had a night at home.  It's all about the small stuff.  :)
A tradition that we look forward to each year is heading out to the horse races with one of my long time friends and her family.  We have always been big winners....   fingers crossed!
Update:  I haven't uploaded this year's photo...but let's just say:  Don't press your luck.   Our smiles aren't bright and shiny like the pictures above.  ;)

Shout out to all my teacher buddies-   4 more days!!!  Get all the hugs you can from those sweeties...because Schools Out For Summa!

  1. I hear you on the whole turning 30! It's surreal sometime.

And days like this I wish I were a teacher that way I can be off for summer, so lucky! :)
