My momma devoted her life to raising kiddos. She came to football games, classroom parties, cooked delish food, made coke floats for my slumber parties, and always knew how to take care of a sick daughter in need of some babying. When I was in high school and college, we used to stay up with popcorn and attempt to watch scary movies. We are both weenies...so they either got turned off or we covered our eyes. We loved going to Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags. Momma loves roller coasters. She says that they are more fun if you scream really loud though!!!! I agree! I am also grateful for knowing how much she loves me and my hubby. She can feel my happiness, sadness, and acomplishments. Her smile is beautiful and her soul loves Jesus. That's a great momma!
My mother-in-law is spunky and full of life. After raising 4 boys...I think she is just used to hearing wild stories, expecting the unexpected, and being prepared for a full house! She raised the man I am absolutley giddy over...that makes her a very special lady in my eyes. She always has "treats" for our home..most of our paintings come from her...thank you for making our house "pretty". The Mr. said his most favorite thing about is momma is that she was always willing to try things with her boys when they were growing up. She is adventurous and that must be important when you raise a house full of boys! Her prayers are always worded beautifully. Her house always has the best holiday decorations...one of my favorite things to do is zip over to her formal dining room and see how she has decorated the table. I will have to take pictures next time we stop by....amazing! Our relationship has grown so much and I am thankful to have her in my life.
We took them to see TSO for a Christmas present.
We spend many Thursday nights with The Mr.'s dad and stepmomma. (I call her Beckle.) Beckle is soooo supportive and encouraging to us. I love sitting on her patio, eating her yummy food, and listening to her stories. She has the gift of painting a picture with words and it keeps us laughing for hours! A special moment that sticks out in my brain is when she invited us over one night for dinner. The Mr. and I had just started dating and I had only met them a handful of times. She sat down and said "This is a dinner all about you! I want to know everything you like and dislike...I want to know everything you are willing to share." We got to know eachother quickly!! It meant so much that she gave me that time for us to connect. Beckle has no judgement, hidden agendas, or unwanted advice. (really, those are her words) She is so loving, witty, and gracious. Everytime we are together we hoot, holler, and cry. It's just our tradition, I guess! I also love getting her hugs.Beckle makes the best Chow Chow. The Mr. loves coming home with a jar.
I have to post some pictures from Easter. We had several celebrations....these are from Sunday at our house.
My sweet SIL. Check out my counters.......that's how you know Easter dinner was a success.
I made- corn casserole, roasted cauliflower, and fresh greenbean casserole. Yum.
My fuzzy appetizers- roasted red pepper hummus, brie sprinkled with cranberries and nuts, and ranch buffalo chicken dip. The Mr. loved the chicken dip.
I made the quick apple messy cake and my SIL brought this de-li-sh cheesecake.
Geez, learn to eat smaller portions Ollie!!!!!
